Merrimack Valley Hospital 3rd annual geriatric psychiatry conference is Sept. 13, 2013, 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. in the David Hartleb Technology Center, Northern Essex Community College, 100 Elliott St., Haverhill.
Speakers and topics are:
Shabbir Abbasi, MD- Parkinson’s Disease: Etiology, Pathology, Clinical Features and Neuropsychiatric Treatment. Dr. Abbasi is a neurologist and movement disorders specialist with New England Neurological Associates, PC;
Nicole Absar, MD-The Syndrome of the 3 Ms Associated with Frontal Subcortical Cognitive Impairment. Dr. Absar, a psychiatrist on staff at Merrimack Valley Hospital, is an assistant clinical professor at Tufts Medical School, a diplomate in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry and a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology;
Nicole Fagone, MSW, LCSW, program director for New England Geriatrics- Personality Disorders and the Older Adult;
Tracey D’Amico OTR/L and Margaret Pfeiffer MSN, RN, CS from St. Anne’s Hospital- Approach, Environment and Alternative Treatment Modalities: Keys to Successful Management of Behaviors in the Older Adult;
Buck Woo, PhD- Neuropsychology and Retraining of Memory and Functional Cognition. Dr. Woo is director of the Center for Neuropsychology & Memory Disorders Clinic at Merrimack Valley Hospital.
