Holy Family Hospital Announces Free Skin Cancer Screening

Holy Family Hospital is offering FREE skin cancer screenings on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Holy Family Hospital’s Cancer Center, 70 East Street in Methuen. Appointments are available with David Gruber, MD, dermatologist, and a member of the Steward Health Care Network.

If you can answer yes to any of the following risk factors and are experiencing any of the symptoms listed below, we encourage you to schedule a screening.

Risk Factors:

  • Unprotected and/or excessive exposure to ultra violet (UV) radiation.
  • Fair complexion.
  • Occupational exposures to coal tar, pitch, creosote, arsenic compounds, or radium.
  • Family history of skin cancer.
  • Multiple or atypical moles.
  • Severe sunburns as a child.


  • Any change on the skin, especially in the size or color of a mole or other darkly pigmented growth or spot, or a new growth.
  • Scaliness, oozing, bleeding, or change in the appearance of a bump or nodule.
  • The spread of pigmentation beyond its border such as dark coloring that spreads past the edge of a mole or mark.
  • A change in sensation, itchiness, tenderness, or pain.
