Steward Hospice and Palliative Care provides a volunteer training program, designed for adults age 18+, who are interested in providing companionship and support to patients and families in Greater Fall River.
This monthly two-part program offers the participants training in the hospice philosophy of hospice care, as well as a comprehensive overview of services offered by the hospice. It also includes the physical, emotional, social and spiritual issues that people can encounter at the end of life. A special emphasis is placed on effective communication and listening skills.
Volunteers with day, evening, or weekend availability are welcome. There is no charge.
To enroll, or get more information, call Penny Gosson, lead volunteer coordinator, 508-730-3449.
