Level II Special Care Nursery

Our licensed Level II Special Care Nursery provides sophisticated care for premature and critically ill newborns. The nursery is always staffed with a neonatologist or pediatrician who provides immediate care for your newborn. We know it is important for you to stay close to home during your pregnancy. Our state-of-the-art facility allows moms to bond with their baby while providing a supportive environment.

Infants who require more intensive care will be stabilized in our Special Care Nursery and transferred to St. Elizabeth’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Boston or Boston Children’s Hospital. Boston Children’s Hospital provides a highly trained transport team to care for infants during transport. When the infant is ready for our Level II care again, we will arrange transfer back to Good Samaritan Medical Center for the remainder of the hospital stay and provide ongoing care for the transition to home.

Interpreter Services

At Good Samaritan Medical Center, we are attuned to the unique needs of our non-English speaking patients. We are sensitive to cultural and linguistic diversity and guarantee that all patients receive a highly personalized birth experience.

Since 20 percent of our OB patients speak Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian-Creole, interpreters in these languages are available in the hospital 24 hours a day.

Baby Cafe at the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center

Good Samaritan Medical Center is also pleased to support the Baby Café at the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center. It is a great collaborative opportunity for breastfeeding moms to receive good breastfeeding support. Baby Café is not for profit and grant funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
