CPAP Information

The CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) system consists of the CPAP unit along with many accessories such as masks, straps, tubing, filters and humidifiers. The CPAP device itself is a flow generator that pulls air through a filter and provides a designated air pressure through a mask system to the patient.  The mask forms a seal over the face to deliver the treatment pressure to the upper airway.  The humidifier moistens the delivered air to relieve nasal irritation and dryness.

These supplies wear out over time and patients are encouraged to replace them in order to keep their CPAP in good working condition.  Often, insurance plans will cover some of these costs of replacement and determine the frequency as to when supplies are covered. Replacing these accessories, regularly, leads to better patient comfort and overall CPAP compliance.

To order supplies directly, call Steward® Home Medical Equipment at 866-698-7533.
