Uterine Fibroid Treatment

Uterine fibroids* are benign (non-cancerous) tumors occurring in at least one quarter of all women.1 They can grow underneath the uterine lining, inside the uterine wall or outside the uterus. Many women don’t feel any symptoms with uterine tumors or fibroids. But for others, these fibroids can cause excessive menstrual bleeding (also called menorrhagia), abnormal periods, uterine bleeding, pain, discomfort, frequent urination and infertility.

Today, a less invasive surgical option is available for treating uterine fibroids through the use of state-of-the-art robotic technology known as the da Vinci® Surgical System and this procedure is offered at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, and Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts. This robotic-assisted procedure does not require large incisions, making it an ideal choice for many gynecological surgeries.

da Vinci® robotic surgery treatment options for uterine fibroids include:

*Uterine fibroids are also called fibroids, uterine tumors, leiomyomata (singular: leiomyoma), and myomas or myomata (singular: myoma)
