Robotic Surgery for Biliary and Pancreatic Disorders

Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts, offers several robot-assisted surgeries using the da Vinci® Si Surgical System to aid in the treatment of biliary and pancreatic disorders. da Vinci Surgery offers patients many potential benefits over traditional surgery, including:

  • Faster recovery and shorter hospital stay
  • Fewer stitches and less scarring
  • Lower risk of complications and infections
  • Less blood loss and the need for transfusions
  • Quicker return to normal activities

We offer the following robotic-assisted surgeries:

  • Cholecystectomy involves removing the gall bladder if gall bladder stones present with cholecystitis or inflammation of the gall bladder.
  • Robotic distal pancreatectomy is performed in order to remove a tumor in the distal portion of the pancreas. In this procedure, the cancerous portion of the pancreas is removed, sometimes with the adjoining spleen, as well.
