St. Elizabeth's Senior Pain Management Program

Pain is more prevalent in older adults when compared to younger age groups. Many seniors, 60 and older, suffer needlessly from untreated pain, particularly pain associated with arthritis, bone and joint disorders and back problems.  When pain is so intense that it interferes with daily living, it is not normal and should not be accepted as a normal part of aging.

The Pain Management Team, led by board-certified physicians, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center has designed a special program for older adults suffering from needless pain.  Led by Frederic J. Gerges, MD, a leading specialist in pain management among older adults, the program aims to provide seniors with faster, easier access and a personalized pain program for a senior's unique needs.

During your first appointment, you will immediately see how our program is designed specifically for a senior's needs.  The initial evaluation includes:

  • A comprehensive pain assessment
  • Medical history and physical examination
  • Review of past diagnostic imaging and/or new tests
  • Diagnosis of pain complaint, plan for care and likely prognosis
  • Ongoing patient education including pain management, medication management, self-help techniques and interventional procedure scheduling

Parking for St. Elizabeth's Center for Pain Management is convenient and easy including valet parking at the Seton main entrance and ample parking in Garage B.
