The Morton Hospital Center for Weight Control located in Taunton, Massachusetts offers both medical and surgical options to help our patients become healthier and achieve their weight loss goals.
Our multidisciplinary team includes an experienced surgeon, nurses, dietitians and psychologists with expertise in sleeve gastrectomy (also known as gastric sleeve surgery). All team members work closely with each other and with our patients, educating them about weight loss methods and helping each individual decide which options are best for him or her. Our compassionate, individualized care includes regular monitoring to ensure that weight is lost at a healthy rate and in a healthy manner.
Gastric sleeve surgeries are conveniently performed right at Morton Hospital, as well as pre- and post-operative appointments.

Bruce Bodner, MD, FACS
Bruce Bodner, MD, FACS, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in general surgery, bariatric surgery and surgical oncology. He earned his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School and completed his residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York.
Rachel Pelisson, MS, RD, CSP, CNSC, LDN, Clinical Nutrition ManagerRachel Pelisson received her bachelor's degree in dietetics from the University of Connecticut. She then obtained her master's degree in nutrition from New York University. Pelisson's past experience includes working in pediatric and bariatric nutrition in the greater Philadelphia area. She recently joined Morton Hospital as the hospital's new clinical nutrition manager, and will be providing nutrition counseling and developing nutrition care plans for the hospital's Center for Weight Control patients.
Melissa Doughtie, RD, LDN, Registered Dietitian
Melissa Doughtie received her bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition at Framingham State College. Prior to working at Morton Hospital as a clinical dietitian, Doughtie worked at Carney Hospital as a patient services manager and clinical dietitian. She developed an interest in weight loss surgery from her experience counseling in the outpatient setting. She is enthusiastic about educating and motivating clients, and enjoys helping them reach their goals that result from healthy lifestyle changes.
