Our Breastfeeding Support Group offers a friendly, stress-free environment where moms share the common interest of wanting to breastfeed. In addition to gaining confidence and insight, you will gain friendships. Studies show that women who have the support of other breastfeeding moms have a higher success rate. Held on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon in the Pilgrim Room at Northwoods Medical Center. FREE
The prenatal breastfeeding class is facilitated by a certified Lactation Consultant and is designed for expectant parents who would like more information on breastfeeding. Topics include the advantages of breastfeeding, return to work issues, avoiding common problems, pumping and storage of milk, and weaning. Coaches are strongly encouraged to attend. FREE.
This two-hour class is designed for new parents to answer questions and concerns regarding the care of a newborn. Discussions include basic newborn care, family adjustment, common problems in the newborn period, and when to call the pediatrician. $20.
Preparation for Childbirth
A five-week series designed to prepare you and your partner for labor and delivery. As you progress through the prepared childbirth classes, you will have an opportunity to actively plan your labor and delivery as you learn about the birth options available to you. Classes include a range of topics such as diet, exercise, prenatal care, relaxation and breathing techniques, the stages of labor and newborn care. You will also have an opportunity to tour the obstetrics unit. Must start at week one. $50. Private classes are available for $80.
Ready for Delivery
A workshop designed for parents who are limited in their time, or who have had a previous birth and are looking for a review/refresher course. This three-week series will offer information on labor and delivery, breathing, pain management, and information on the last trimester, including the birth process. Must start at week one. $25.
Weekend Childbirth classes focus on preparing you for labor and delivery. As you progress through this class, you will have an opportunity to actively plan your labor and delivery as you learn about the birth options available to you. This class includes a range of topics such as diet, exercise, prenatal care, relaxation and breathing techniques, the stages of labor and newborn care. THIS IS A TWO-WEEK CLASS. $50 for series.
The clinical obstetrical team at Morton Hospital’s First Impressions Maternity Center includes experienced physicians, a nurse midwife, registered nurses and a certified lactation consultant.
