The behavioral health services program at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen is dedicated to helping adults by providing a full range of inpatient and outpatient treatment options. Our comprehensive services focus on treating the individual to help them restore balance and a sense of well-being in their lives.
The general hospital center setting also offers many other advantages toward a complete plan of care and makes it possible to address any medical problems that may accompany a patient’s mental health. Our behavioral health services include:
Holy Family Hospital’s mission is to provide comfortable quality care to individuals in need of an inpatient psychiatric setting. Operating under a multidisciplinary team approach, the focus of patient treatment is on diagnostic assessment, reduction of acute symptoms and development of an aftercare plan. The inpatient program offers a secure 47-bed, acute care, short-term stabilization unit for voluntary and involuntary patients, age 18 and older. Based on need, patients are admitted to one of two secure units.
In addition, the hospital provides holding beds for adults who need continued assessment and treatment in a secure environment for up to 24 hours. Treatment includes assessment and monitoring by staff psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary treatment team, including social workers, nurses and other therapists, many who are bi-lingual. Admissions are accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
At Holy Family Hospital, we also offer electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), a well-established, safe and accepted medical procedure for the treatment of mental and emotional conditions. The center works with other health care facilities, such as nursing homes and other hospitals, to make these services available to patients from other settings.
The Dual-Diagnosis Assessment Track is a program for patients who struggle with mental illness and chemical dependency. Patients receive simultaneous treatment for both problems. We provide education on substance abuse and addiction, as well as psychotherapy and group therapy on family and women’s issues. Alcoholics Anonymous programs are available, as well as support groups. Family involvement is encouraged and group therapies are designed to help concerned family members understand the complexities of these illnesses.
