Carney Hospital’s behavioral health services program is dedicated to helping adults and adolescents by providing a full range of inpatient and outpatient treatment options. Our comprehensive services focus on treating the individual to help them restore balance and a sense of well-being in their lives.
The general hospital setting also offers many other advantages toward a complete plan of care. As a community teaching hospital, Carney is able to address any medical problems that may accompany a patient’s mental health and we offer a consult service to patients located in the medical and surgical beds in the hospital. Carney Hospital’s mission is to provide comfortable quality care to individuals in need of an inpatient psychiatric setting. Operating under a multidisciplinary team approach, the focus of patient treatment is on diagnostic assessment, reduction of acute symptoms and development of an aftercare plan. The inpatient program offers a secure 20-bed adult unit for short-term crisis intervention, 14-bed adolescent unit and 16-bed geriatric program serving older adults.
Outpatient behavioral health services at Carney Hospital include medication management and individual, couples, group, and family counseling. Carney also operates a Clozapine Clinic, which addresses the needs of a specialty group of seriously and persistently mentally ill patients. The clinic provides psychopharmacological treatment, rehabilitation group therapy, family supportive therapy, case management, laboratory tests and medication.
Carney’s Partial Hospital Program offers intensive outpatient services, including a structured group program, case management services and medication management. The Partial Hospital Program is open to 20 individuals over the age of 18, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
