Ten Steward® hospitals offer Emergency Department (ED) evaluations to patients in crisis. Each ED has a team of crisis clinicians that provide evaluation and psychiatric screenings to determine what services patients may need.
If a patient requires inpatient services, they will be under close observation. During that time they will be given emergency medications as needed, and at-home medications will be ordered. Patients continue to receive ongoing assessment as crisis clinicians evaluate patients while they are in the ED. If a patient requires an outpatient program, our crisis clinicians will make arrangements or provide contact information for a program.
